In order to hold a supportive container for all, we ask you to uphold these 5 vows during the retreat. Following these vows encourages mindfulness in one’s actions, which supports the development of a focused and clear mind.1) Vow to protect life. Please avoid killing any living being, including insects. 2) Vow to generosity. Please avoid taking what is not freely given, even small things. 3) Vow to wholesome relations. Please avoid sexual misconduct. 4) Vow to compassionate speech and deep listening. Please avoid deliberately lying to anyone. 5) Vow to work with the natural clarity of mind. Please avoid intoxicants such as alcohol, recreational drugs or psychotropic plant medicines / micro-dosing. *	I agree to abide by these vows throughout the entirety of the retreat. I do not agree. (This information is 100% confidential, it is ESSENTIAL you be open and honest so we best know how to care for you during the retreat, and specifically in case of an emergency since we are in a remote place. I understand Dewachen is a masterpiece in progress in the middle of the jungle in Costa Rica. I understand it is common in rural situations for electric or water to go out temporarily. I understand bugs and critters co-exist in the jungle. Though preventative measures are taken by the hosts, it is possible I may see them in and around personal or shared spaces. (Our service team will happily help you.)	I understand and accept. I have questions and need somone to contact me.

We encourage participants to do 45 minutes of Karma Yoga, or volunteering, per day. This allows participants to contribute to the retreat environment while practicing mindfulness and selflessness in their actions. If you are interested in participating, please inform us of your preferences for volunteering tasks by choosing one or several of the tasks listed.	Taking care of the altar Ringing the gong 10 minutes before each session Sweeping the medidation deck Bringing tea to Lama Arranging meditation cushions at the end of each day Restocking the water stations Tyding the shoe area and entrance Miscellaneous kitchen tasks (example: putting away dry plates and cups) Taking out the compost Sweeping the kitchen and dining area Tidying the showers and bathrooms I would be happy to assist in any task that is required I am not interested in Karma Yoga / I am attending online only.
How do you plan to get to Dewachen?	I am bringing my 4x4 vehicle, and I DO have space for others I am bringing my 4x4 vehicle, and I do NOT have space for others I would like to share a taxi with others I would like to rent a 4x4 vehicle with others Other 4x4 vehicles are needed to get up to Dewachen. We want to encourage carpooling in vehicles and we especially want to encourage people bringing shared vehicles on site because there is a steep incline between the meditation area and the cabins. You might prefer to drive/ride up each day.
